Powering Community Resilience: Solar and Battery Funding Now Available in Queensland

Powering Community Resilience: Solar and Battery Funding Now Available in Queensland

Extreme weather events are increasing the risk of prolonged power and communication outages across Queensland. For many communities, this is not just an inconvenience. It directly impacts safety, coordination, and recovery.

The RACQ Resilient Energy Centre Program has been established to strengthen community infrastructure by transforming local facilities into reliable, self-sufficient hubs supported by targeted solar and battery funding in Queensland.

Building resilience where it matters most

If your facility has the potential to support your community during outages, this program provides access to solar and battery funding, enabling the deployment of resilient, future ready energy systems. Organisations can explore more about available solar and battery funding in QLD through this initiative.

Selected organisations can receive funding of up to $50,000, with additional support in exceptional circumstances, to retrofit their facilities with solar generation, battery storage, smart energy management, and backup communications such as satellite internet and phone. These integrated systems ensure sites remain operational during grid or telecommunications outages.

Beyond emergency resilience, these upgrades deliver ongoing value by reducing electricity costs, improving energy independence, and stabilising long term energy spend. Organisations considering commercial battery storage systems can also reduce peak demand and improve control over their energy profile.

As the delivery arm of RACQ through RACQ Solar (GEM Energy), we are responsible for the design and delivery of these systems across Queensland. Our focus is on integrating solar, battery storage, and control technologies into a single, high performing solution that works in real world conditions. You can explore our commercial solar and battery projects to see how these systems perform in practice.

For organisations already considering commercial solar systems, this program provides a clear pathway to reduce upfront costs and accelerate deployment, supported by technical guidance, mentoring, and experienced delivery partners.

Projects that include co –  contributions or existing infrastructure, such as solar systems ready for battery integration, are encouraged to maximise funding impact.
